Mechanic Exam Registration & Scheduling

​This service allows mechanics to sign up to take one or more mechanic exams required by the state of Maryland.  A partnership leveraged by the Maryland State Police with the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration and NIC Maryland has resulted in multiple citizen conveniences related to mechanic exam certifications including:

• Expansion of exam locations statewide from 4 to 19 locations
  
• Expansion of frequency of exams offered from 1 day per month to 5 days per week
• The MVA’s electronic Law Test System has a Quick Fail / Quick Pass feature which ends the test once a passing score is obtained
• The Mechanic Inspection tests are available in both English and Spanish
• The Mechanic Inspection tests are available in audio in both English and Spanish
• Results from the MVA’s electronic Law Test System are electronically reported to the Maryland State Police, resulting in faster customer notification to schedule the Demonstrative Ability Test
