Prior to this service, customers were required to take the vision exam at the MVA or have the doctor complete a section on the renewal form before they could renew their driver’s license. Now drivers can have their vision provider submit the results electronically to the MVA and then can renew their driver’s license through MVA’s website or a self-service kiosk the next business day. Vision providers register and use the service at no charge. Upon registration, the vision provider’s licensing status is verified with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to confirm their authority to submit vision exam results to the MVA. This service also helps to reduce foot traffic at MVA branch offices.
